How to get from Athens to Olympia
|
OLYMPIA is one of the most
popular destinations for tourists in
Greece, well known for been the site of
the Olympic Games in classical
times, as well as for the gigantic ivory
and gold statue of Zeus, sculpted by
Phedias.
Tourism
is popular throughout the late-20th
century. Tourist attractions include the
Archaeological Museum, the Ancient
Stadium and the Museum of the Olympic
Games.
The city has a train station and is the
end of the line from Olympia to Pyrgos.
Distance from Pyrgos is 30 km. You may
reach Olympia by public transport, either
by train or bus, and connect on to the
local transport from Pyrgos to Olympia.
The problem is the very long ride. If you
get the best possible connection the trip
takes + / - 6 hrs. This is why the trip
to Olympia is always suggested with an
