There are a few reasons that explain it:

1) Because I was disappointed, when I visited ancient Olympia for the first time. What is left standing at the site, needs a lot of imagination. When I finished my visit, I felt that I was missing something. I do not want other people to feel the same way. Ancient Olympia wasn't a city. It was a sanctuary, a sacred place!! something like today's Vatican. The Olympic Games were a glorious festival with a lot of principles and meanings. These principles are important and must be understood.
Every time that I visit ancient Olympia, I see people wondering around and I can see that they feel the same way I felt in my first visit. As I was saying, it looked like "one stone on top of another", but it is not so if you know what was on these stones.
Don't take the tour we offer you, but ask for the help of one of the tour guides that are standing at the museum of Olympia, and leave with the feeling that you 've been to Olympia and you know how beautiful this ancient site was. One of the local professional tour guides is Mr. Angelo Koutras (ask for him at the reception of the museum).

3) I have done a lot of reading and a lot of work about ancient Olympia. I have learned even more from the archaeology and art history students that I have been lucky to follow in past classical tours that I organised for American Universities. All I want is to try and pass this knowledge to the people I have with me at Olympia. As these people say: I try and bring the history of Olympia alive for them.

4) I have prepared and give to the clients a file of information, photos of the beautiful temples and books about Olympia, the Olympic Games, the history of the Olympic Games from the ancient time until today and the principles behind these Games.

5) I have prepared a CD with Greek myths and continue to add Greek myths and stories for clients to listen during the trip. There is nothing about which the ancient Greeks did not write or speak. There are myths about everything. There are myths about the creation of the world, about the creation of the man and the woman, myths about the four seasons, myths about Gaea - the mother earth, that worried about the weight of the people on earth was asking Zeus to start a war for this weight to decrease and so many other myths that I don't know where to stop. During the drive from Athens to Olympia you are going to hear a lot and learn a lot.

6) Because Ancient Olympia is a beautiful part of Greece. I love the area and want everybody to love it as well.

7) Last and not least, because the competition from the train and the bus makes the promotion of these tours easier. The train trip takes nearly 6 hours and the bus trip takes nearly 5. On the other hand the price we charge for the tour is not prohibitive. Let me remind you that the price includes the pick up / drop off service, the entrance tickets to the museum and the site (9.00 euros per person) and think of the knowledge that you gain at the end of the day.

Think about it and let me arrange a nice and enjoyable tour. Think how much you are going to learn on the way to Olympia.
